Through free dual credit opportunities with The University of Texas at Tyler, students have the opportunity to earn college credit while still in high school and can graduate core complete, giving them a valuable head start on their college journey. With personalized support, meaningful learning experiences, and a focus on future readiness, our students graduate prepared to confidently pursue their goals and take the next step toward a successful future.

UA Dual Credit Courses Meet Texas Requirements for Core Complete

"Core Complete" status in Texas signifies the successful completion of a 42-semester credit hour (SCH) foundational curriculum at a Texas public college or university. By state law, this block of credit transfers to any other Texas public institution, satisfying all general education requirements and guaranteeing that no additional core courses are required.

"Core curriculum" means the curriculum in liberal arts, humanities, sciences and political, social, and cultural history that all undergraduate students of an institution of higher education are required to complete before receiving an academic undergraduate degree.

In order to be fully Texas Core Complete, UA offers the following courses in addition to the Dual Credit courses listed in the graduation requirements:

  • Dual Credit Astronomy
  • Dual Credit Texas Government
  • Dual Credit Economics

Additional graduation requirements:
  • Meet state assessment requirements on the EOC for Algebra I, English I, English II, Biology, and US History
  • Completion of FAFSA form
  • Completion of CPR and AED training
  • Instruction on proper interaction with Peace Officers
